Day Off

Well Jan was insane.....and we are all just totally flaked out.

My New Year's resolution was to try and get this blog up to date and also to go to India. Well I have sorted out my visa to India and am looking forward to checking it out. I have contacted a load of people all over India and I hope to start some interviews soon.

Anyway, back to the subject of the blog. I have never been so exhausted as what I was yesterday. So I went and got nicely pissed and had a great lie in. Today when I woke up I promised myself that I would start updating my fotos, and so I went about sorting over 1400 images into albums, and guess what, for the first time on the International world wide web, they are on display. So for those of you that actually read my pathetic blog, follow this link here.....

We are out of Beta

It's all happening. We've moved back to Dubai for 2007. Still no JBR to live in. Living in the Greens. This week Dave has come over from Hungary and Ignacio is on his way to kick some ass in Dubai. It's so good to be back. The deals are going down, the January sales are nearly over and we are back into the swing.

Loads to Report on and no time to do the reporting. I'm hoping to get a voice regognition system for my blog so I can talk into my PC and keep things up to date.

Christmas was great in Almeria and Maria Del Mar had all her family over. We went to Miami for Baldrick's wedding which was an absolute scream and well worth the shitty trip to get there.

Plans for this year include more property development, getting back into the gym and general sorting our lives for the future. We ae hoping to be here until it gets too hot. Great to be back with the guys and hoping to develop the business more in 07.

Also hoping to get back to starting my Dubai property blog. Maria Del gave me a new camera for my birthday so watch out for some new photography.

Satish.....where are ya?

Blogging - Attempt3

Well, Blogging and web 2.0 seems to be here to stay. I remember in 2000 all the visionaries going on about web 2 and all that and I remember shitting myself thinking that all my domain names would be worthless. I just didn't get it. Over the last 4 months I have been working like mad on a number of projects and I must say that I quite like the new web environment. I now have a huge list of blgs that I visit, and to be honest I find blog networks just as interesting as search now, and often use search with key phrases like blog + Key Word. For example I have been using Google to find a lot of Internet Start up blogs. They are great for letting you know what's going on in the world. I guess I should start a side line blog - Paul's take on the web or something like that.

Some Things I would like to explore more are:

The Mobile Internet Revolution - I have 3G and I am now able to whip out my 800 gram laptop and work virtually anywhere, from a doctor's waiting room to a sun bed shop. Yes moile is big, and web on my PDA has proved to be so useful already. I've used MSN to speak to my team and let them know what's gotta happen that day before I get back online. It's awesome, and I have even been able to turn hours of waiting for planes into some productive time. I'm lovin it!

Other things I should be looking at more is utilising my 2 years intense PPC (pay per click) experience to try out some new business opportunities. Oner thing I have noticed is how quickly you can target a niche market with PPC. You can literally go from idea to profit in the same day. Yip, the world is fast and furious, connected and fun, and it all started with Google. Well done to them, but I can't help thinking that web3 is gonna be an area that Google will find it hard to reach. Sure they might get into all types of advertsing, and their share price might well go to 2000 usd, but it's the power of the people that is shaping the web as we all know. I believe, and I'm gonna refer to this in a couple of years, is that those making strides forward now, are gonna be the ones that can help people like me and Maria Del Mar to embrace all these changes that are happening now. I mean it has taken me 4 months to understand what's going on. How long will it take my mother, and where does she go about starting. We need , a what you can do search engine. My mother might type in photos, and a search engine will show her things like - share, print, screensaver, sell etc etc. At the moment she's no idea how to find out about these other than WOM.

Word of This Day - Retroactive

retroactive DefinitionEffective as of an earlier date than the date enacted.

Basically I found out that this means that something is applied (like a discount) to a total amount after a certian figure has been passed. I wasn't sure if this word was invented so I looked it up on Goog and found out that it was infact legit. I could have sworn the term was retospective though.

Anyway words are just crazy. I will be spairing here, but did you know that my Internet business deals in words? Yeah we buy and sell words. Insane as it may sound, we have a database of over 6 million words and phrases that have been actively searched on line. Mad!

Brasov...can't beat it with skiing, hiking, terraces, bars and great food

 Posted by Picasa

Brasov

Well I've foundf a great city in Romania where I hope to set up an office at some point in the near future. Brasov is about 2 hours from Bucharest and is like the Prague of Romania. I had a couple of days up there earlier in the month when I was looking for a mountain pad. There is some fantastic skiing there, and some nice pubs and restaurants too.....Anyway I'm gonna get some images off the camera and show you....

Blogging Mad

Well I have worked it all out. Blogging is like going to the gymn. If you stop for over a week it takes ages to get back into it.....

So what's been happening I hear you say. Well I have done my fair share of travelling over the last wee while. I have been to Spain, Dubai and Romania and probably a few other places too!

I was absolutely amazed again with Bucharesti and surrounding areas. Brother Russ has managed to land a decent job for a Romanian outfit called Rompetrol and he's in the oil business....wow...how cool is that. Yeah man, my brother is in Oil.....
