Well, Blogging and web 2.0 seems to be here to stay. I remember in 2000 all the visionaries going on about web 2 and all that and I remember shitting myself thinking that all my domain names would be worthless. I just didn't get it. Over the last 4 months I have been working like mad on a number of projects and I must say that I quite like the new web environment. I now have a huge list of blgs that I visit, and to be honest I find blog networks just as interesting as search now, and often use search with key phrases like blog + Key Word. For example I have been using Google to find a lot of Internet Start up blogs. They are great for letting you know what's going on in the world. I guess I should start a side line blog - Paul's take on the web or something like that.
Some Things I would like to explore more are:
The Mobile Internet Revolution - I have 3G and I am now able to whip out my 800 gram laptop and work virtually anywhere, from a doctor's waiting room to a sun bed shop. Yes moile is big, and web on my PDA has proved to be so useful already. I've used MSN to speak to my team and let them know what's gotta happen that day before I get back online. It's awesome, and I have even been able to turn hours of waiting for planes into some productive time. I'm lovin it!
Other things I should be looking at more is utilising my 2 years intense PPC (pay per click) experience to try out some new business opportunities. Oner thing I have noticed is how quickly you can target a niche market with PPC. You can literally go from idea to profit in the same day. Yip, the world is fast and furious, connected and fun, and it all started with Google. Well done to them, but I can't help thinking that web3 is gonna be an area that Google will find it hard to reach. Sure they might get into all types of advertsing, and their share price might well go to 2000 usd, but it's the power of the people that is shaping the web as we all know. I believe, and I'm gonna refer to this in a couple of years, is that those making strides forward now, are gonna be the ones that can help people like me and Maria Del Mar to embrace all these changes that are happening now. I mean it has taken me 4 months to understand what's going on. How long will it take my mother, and where does she go about starting. We need , a what you can do search engine. My mother might type in photos, and a search engine will show her things like - share, print, screensaver, sell etc etc. At the moment she's no idea how to find out about these other than WOM.
